Childhood friend

Headed off to UNSW to attend a talk by CMC (www.cmcgroup.com.au) where they mentioned that you could trade CFD and FX products with only one account. Later in the afternoon, was picked up by my friend and we headed off to Sydney Harvest (an extension from City Harvest in Singapore) for their Sunday worship. Their current temporary premises was at Ranrick Primary School along Cowper Steet but the paster had interest in setting up permanent worship premises in Chinatown.
While waiting for worship to start, my friend introduced me to his paster as him 'childhood' friend. I was abit 'shocked' to be given the title of 'childhood' friend as I would normally associated that with a gal and guy having known each other since their pre-5 year old years. As he was leading the congregation in singing during worship, I was amazed at how God had transform my friend from those days of drawing pictures during class lessons in school to leading worship even though there was less than 15 people in the audience. Amen!
Back at home, my housemate had problems reconciling her bosses bank accounts and summoned for my assistance. I actually was abit hesistant to assist as I had not looked at a set of accounts in like years after my exit from EY. After discussion with her, I managed to give her some hints on how to go about solving her bank reconciliation. Wonder if I could charge her my prior EY charge out rate? Might save me a weeks rent!

Batman Begins

Qn: And why do we fall, Master Bruce?
Ans: So that we might better learn to pick ourselves up.
Watched Batman Begins and found that the movie had the right amount of 'action' and 'romance'. Even after being the 4th Batman movie, I found that the movie worth watching. Expect another Batman movie in the making. Batman vs the Joker.

Green Tea Session at Taka

After lunch with the church members, we headed off to Taka Tea Garden (www.takateagarden.com.au) at World Square (www.worldsquare.com.au) and was honoured to be the students of the first green tea class. We were introduced to the different types of green tea and it was the first time that we found out that some green tea leaves could actually be eaten (e.g. Gyokuro). We were showed with a variety of green tea products e.g. green tea cake, green tea soup etc. To entice us to return next Sunday for the chinese tea class, we were given a taste of Taiwanese tea. I was amazed at the taiwanese tea smell that I was sniffing the aroma addictively.
After sending over 3 hours there, we headed of to hillsongs in the city before having dinner at Sushi Suma (421 Cleveland St, Surry Hills, NSW 2010, Phone (02) 9698 8873) for dinner. While waiting to our table to be ready, I noticed a North Indian Restaurant called 'Holy Cow' (456 Cleveland St Surry Hills NSW 2010, Phone (02) 9698 9220). Later when I checked with my Indian friend, he recommended that restaurant having good Indian food. Shall try the place next time.

Potential

Points mentioned by Rick Godwin at City Hillsong Church:
  • God made is unique thus we are valuable in his presence
  • The devil is always around to make us feel 'no good' (like the song)
  • God is the only person worthy to say what we are worth
  • The money on our pockets could have been used for prostitution and drug related activities yet it is still worth its legal tender amount supported by the government
  • We fail to notice the extraordinary in ordinary things
  • Consider the potential in each one of us
  • God is a God of potential
  • If you must brag, brag about the things that you are going to do instead of the things that you have done
  • Be concerned about compliancy resulting from your last success
  • Don't be normal
  • Potential is what you could do but have not done it yet
  • Do you want to live life to end in an untouched state or be live life fully worn out
  • Who really knows the potential that lies within us
  • Jesus searched for his disciples among the common people
  • Poeple want to label us so that they can cancel us
  • What lies within us is more important than what lies behind and in-front of us
  • Be joyful that you have won the genetic lottery to have the opportunity to live

Quick quick too slow

Had to get back to Salsa dancing after being away for over 3 months and also my jazz shoes was collecting dust and moulding inside its box. After having a quick discussion with a director of the dance studio, I was confidence that I should be able to re-enter the dance class at an intermediate level. He suggested that I take the package of 1 hour private lesson before determining which class I should attend. Due to the pack schedule, the lady dance instructor was only available during lunch time.
During the private lesson, she asked me if I could show her what I had previous learn. At that moment, my mind was a total blank and I could only barely do a cross body turn and some basic dance moment. She gave me a 'is that what you learn in 6 months!' look before running through the basic steps. After about an hour, she told me that I have learn all the steps in the beginner 1 class and could advance to the beginner 2 class. I was thinking that if I could learn all the steps for beginner at level 1 in an hour, another hour of private lesson will take me pass beginner 2 onto intermediate! But she said it was difficult as they taught combinations during basic 2. I later found out that she was actually the instructor for basic 2. Hmmm.......
So that evening, I came to class with a 'over qualified basic student (having taken basic salsa classes at 3 different dance schools' look into class. I had no problems learning the moves but noted that the dance moves where not appropriate on Singapore dance floor in Union Square as it requires alot of moves. The ladies were 'generally' taller and I had to tip toe a few times just to 'support' the ladies + look up to them when dancing.

Another day in paradise

After finishing my work for the day, I was 'busy' surfing the net and catching up on the day's news from Singapore. I was seriously getting bored with the work that has been allocated to me and it wasn't adding value to my working experience in Auz. Then the thought of seeing what jobs were in the market came to me. Should I visit www.seek.com.au? Does everyone who goes to that website using the company's computer get an alert message that is immediate send to their respective bosses? Amazingly that website is not on the 'restricted' list in my company! Hmm..... could this be a trap to test one's loyalty?

As I was pondering those thoughts, my manager casually looked at me and said, "Terence, are you all right? You seem pretty quiet today! Does forgetting to wear your spectacles have anything to do with it?". I slowing turned my head away from the monitor to look at her and just smiled saying "No". Hmmm..... mind reading ability.

The day moves on...

Today we had a farewell 'celebration' for the Prof who is heading back to China. Sure going to miss him which leaves me to be the only 'thorn' in the house. May God have mercy on my soul! Have a safe trip back home Prof.
